Litt slitne unger gjorde at planen om lørdagens fjelltur måtte legges på is. Så hva skulle man finne på….  Hva med det skiltet vi har kjørt forbi ganske mange ganger nå? “Riddespranget”. Vi har til og med googlet det…. vi bestemte oss for å dra.

HELT GREIT Å VÆRE TURIST I EGET LAND

Ridderspranget er ett juv i sjoa oppkalt etter sagnet om Sigvat Leirholar som var en av kongens rådgivere. Han mottok ett  brev fra en vakker jente som skulle gifte seg med ridderen Eldjarn.  Dette var jenta sigvat hadde lagt sin elsk på, og han  bestemte seg for å befri henne. Han red til Eldjarns gård og hentet jenta. Eldjarn jagde etter dem, men måtte gi seg da Sigvat, med jenta i armene, hoppet over Sjoa—nemlig Ridderspranget.

ENGLISH:

The kids was tired and the  plan for Saturday’s hike was put on hold. So what could we do with the rest of the day …. What about the sign that  we had driven past quite a few times now? “Knight Leap”(read: Ridderspranget”). We’ve even Googled it a couple of times …. we decided to go.

ABSOLUTELY OKAY TO BE TOURIST IN YOUR OWN COUNTRY

Ridderspranget a gorge in Sjoa named after the legend of Sigvat Leirholar who was one of the king’s advisers. He received a letter from a beautiful girl who was suppose to marry the knight Eldjarn. This was the girl Sigvat`s  heart were set on, and he decided to free her. He rode to Eldjarn farm and took the girl with him. Eldjarn chased after them, but had to give up when Sigvat, with the girl in his arms, jumped over Sjoa naming the gorge – Ridderspranget.
